It’s always a bad sign when you start watching a movie and think that something is wrong because the dialogue doesn’t sync up with the mouth movements. Then you do a google search and realize that the ADR is just insanely poorly done. I’m not just talking that the audio doesn’t match, sometimes the characters are talking and there is no audio dialogue to be heard.
That’s not the only issue with sounds, as the sound mixing is in general bad. The editor obviously left spaces between looping background noises so it just sometimes stops and then starts again after a few seconds. That noise is also sometimes as loud as the dialogue or louder.
That exactly does go hand in hand with the visuals as I don’t think there were any lighting rigs on the set so scenes are absurdly dark, often with way too much contrast, and also, they aren’t always in focus. Some scenes appear to be color graded with yellow or green hues, some are balanced in color, but most seem to be just straight out of the camera.
According to IMDb, the film’s plot is “A family moves back to a farm in the mother’s hometown. One of the children is a clairvoyant and along with his sister they start to unravel secrets that have happened on the farm” and I’m just going to believe that. For me it was mostly scenes of angry men who seem to become psychotic, and younger people trying to figure things out.
I don’t care.
