Grizzly Rage (2007)

Part of the Maneater series
0.5/5

A bunch of mid-2000s frat kids go on a vacation but since they are stupid frat kids, they break into a heavily fenced area. There, they accidently kill a bear cub. First rule of vacation: do not kill bear cubs. Not just because their mama big might a big ass grizzly bear ready for revenge, but also because you shouldn’t kill bear cubs in general.

We got all the stereotypes here. The jock in a wife beater with a backward cap, the Matthew Lillard character with his bucket hat, the bro with a bandana and the hot girl that looks exactly like Tara Reid. These kids are not going to make it.

Grizzly Rage (2007)

Most of Grizzly Rage is these kids traversing the forest area, sometimes the scenes are accompanied by some of the worst post-grunge alternative rock music you will hear, sometimes not. There is a 9-minute segment where the bro character discovers a cabin, goes to the cabin, looks at things in the cabin, before the grizzly finally appears and throws the bro 20 feet up in the air. There is building suspension and there is boring the audience to death.

We don’t see it happen, just the bro falling on the shed (we see the fall twice). Why? Because we don’t ever see the grizzly and the actors in the same frame. We just see that it’s about to happen and the aftermath. That’s some low-grade horror right there.

Also, it’s just a grizzly bear that most of the time is far away from them. Just run back to the gate and leave the area when the bear isn’t around. Don’t just chill when you know the bear wants revenge.

It’s dreadfully boring and uninspired in every way, however, Grizzly Rage has one interesting thing about it. The film has less than 2K ratings on IMDb, mine will be the first review on Rotten Tomatoes, nobody cares about this film. That is, except for someone who made a really detailed Wikipedia page for it. That’s it. That’s the interesting part. The fact that it has a comprehensive Wikipedia page.
